What are we doing here?

Picture

The Emerson Family is serving at Casa Bernabe, an orphanage in Guatemala City which is home to over 160 orphans. We are house parents to fourteen beautiful, crazy toddlers! We are sharing our love and His love with these children here--children that the world would say are less fortunate because they do not have parents, or because they will never be reunited with their parents again. This was difficult for us to understand until we realized that God Almighty will take any measure necessary in our lives to show us that He, the Creator of the universe, wants us to know Him as “Father”.

Our major role at the orphanage is providing parental care as house parents to 14 toddlers, (4 girls and 10 boys) ages three to five years old. The role as house parents is similar to being a family parent. The children need love, structure, to feel protected, and to have guidance in following God’s plan for them. We are excited to share these qualities with our new “family.” We have learned so much from them already and are looking forward to more! We have faith that God works out all of the details in our life and provides for us. We are excited to share our life with you. So, we are asking you to join us on our journey by praying for us, encouraging us and supporting us.
